Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida Inc. received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by the U.S. Green Building Council for its two facilities on the Searcy G. Koen Regional Girl Scout Campus in Sarasota. In addition, the council has received several community beautification awards for its campus landscaping. The Division of Forestry and Southwest Florida Water Management District have also been engaged in collaborative projects such as the removal of invasive species and the replanting of native species on Girl Scout properties. These environmental accomplishments support the council's overall goal to teach girls how to become stewards of the land. Girls are encouraged to participate in a variety of educational and environmental opportunities and programs offered in Girl Scouting to provide them with a better understanding of the need to care for the environment.
