Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida and the Library Foundation for Sarasota County are partnering for the 2018 Giving Challenge because we share a common goal – we want to make reading resources available to children of all ages and backgrounds to help them learn the joy of reading.
To support this partnership, GSGCF, with help from our Girl Scout troops and volunteers, is spearheading a Children's Book Drive from now through May 1. We are collecting new and gently used books for children of all ages, from pre-k to young adult. Books will be donated to the Sarasota County Library System and their partners.
Drop off your books at Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida’s council headquarters, 4780 Cattlemen Road, Sarasota, between 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays.
FOR TROOPS: Book Drive collection boxes are also available during troop activity times at these locations:
- Gulfcoast Event and Conference Center (GECC)
- Venice Girl Scout House
- Bradenton Girl Scout House
- Camp Honi Hanta Lodge
- Collier Girl Scout House
- Sebring Girl Scout House
You can also bring your books to our free community event, Campfire Stories, on Tuesday, May 1 from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at the Gulfcoast Event and Conference Center, adjacent to the council office. This fun event will feature children’s book readings, craft activities, refreshments, and more. Bring a book to donate, plus make a donation to Girl Scouts through the 2018 Giving Challenge!
