Girl Scouts Love State Parks Weekend

July 13-14, 2019

Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida and Girl Scouts of the USA announce the first-ever Girl Scouts Love State Parks Weekend July 13–14, 2019! Join thousands of girls in hundreds of state parks across the United States to find adventure, explore nature, and learn what Girl Scouts is all about. This is the perfect opportunity to experience the great outdoors, an integral part of our all-girl leadership program.

Locally, you can enjoy two exclusive programs at one of five Florida State Parks in our council!

Saturday, July 13: Junior Ranger Starter Program, 9 a.m.–12 p.m.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a state park ranger?

We’re partnering with our Florida State Parks for a program based on the core activities of the Junior Ranger Program. Activities include:

  • A guided hike through the park’s scenic trail system
  • Learning about the important role of state park rangers
  • Identifying 175 Florida State Parks using a guided map
  • Putting the Park Ranger Mission into action by learning how to protect natural resources and recreation
  • Experiencing a park ranger’s daily responsibilities
  • Carrying out the duties of a Junior Park Ranger

Participants will be sworn in as Junior Rangers and receive a Junior Ranger Badge.

Sunday, July 14: G.I.R.L. Amazing Race, 9 a.m. –12 p.m.

Gather your sister Girl Scouts, form a team, and get ready to enjoy the most exciting adventure race on the planet! This program offers a fun, competitive experience for Girl Scouts and their parents (and future Girl Scouts, too).

Teams will complete a series of ten fun-filled outdoor challenges that highlight our scenic Florida State Parks. It is the ultimate test of teamwork, as each station requires participants to work together in order to complete the challenge. Walk, jog, or run, but be prepared for a unique bonding experience.

This program is open to current Girl Scouts, future Girl Scouts (rising Kindergarteners and older), registered Girl Scout volunteers, and parents (no tag-alongs). The cost is $30 per team for up to ten participants.
