Service Unit Event: Troop 473 Hosting Girl LED Journey in A Day Event Exclusively for Girl Scout Brownies!

Cost: $25 per girl.

This is a girl only, event for Girl Scout members only. See below for adult chaperone instructions.

Join Girl Scout Cadette Troop 473 for a day of outdoor fun at Camp Caloosa. Brownies will earn their Outdoor Journey Badges during this full day event. Girls will earn all badges in the outdoor journey including the take action project portion which includes leave no trace principals.

  • To fulfill the First Aid requirements, girls will make a first aid kit (small), learn basic first aid skills, play the 911 game and she will speak to them about being a RN and working the field. 
  • To fulfill the Hiking requirements, girls will make some trail mix, learn about no trace and gain skills while hiking on paths, and learn about no trace while cleaning up debris/garbage at camp while hiking as part of the tack action project. They will also play a scavenger hunt bingo game to find and identify local wildlife/plant life. 
  • To fulfill the Camp Skills requirement, girls will learn how to build a fire and use it to, cook hot dogs,  over the fire, learn GS Traditions camping traditions , campfire songs and games, talk about cabin camping, and play the what to pack for camp game.


Program includes hot dogs lunch which girls will make over the fire, a fruit selection, and bag of chips. Snacks of trail mix and s'mores are also included. Troops and girls are welcomed to bring additional snack if preferred. All girls and adults will need to bring refillable water bottles. Outdoor Journey Badge for Brownies is included.

THIS EVENT IS BEING HOSTED BY MANATEE 1 SERVICE UNIT.  THIS IS NOT A COUNCIL EVENT.  THIS EVENT REQUIRES PRE-REGISTRATION FOR ALL.

COOKIE CREDITS CANNOT BE USED FOR THIS EVENT.

This is NOT at drop off event. All children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Interested adults must contact Doreen at about volunteering, as well as registering themselves on the link provided. 

Additional adults will need to bring their own lunch and snacks. If attending as a troop must submit a Day Trip and Activity Troop Travel Form to council and have it approved two weeks prior to the event.

Registration deadline is March 31, 2023. Refunds and cancellations cannot be processed after March 31, 2023. 

A minimum of 20 girls is required for this event to take place.  Capacity cannot exceed 36 girls.
