Outdoor Camp Skills Certification allows you to take your girls camping practically anywhere! Anyone in the troop/group can serve as a camp-trained volunteer.

This is a two-part course:
You must be able to attend both course session dates together in order to complete this certification course. While attending the Planning Session (part 1), you will plan ahead for the At Camp Session (part 2).

  1. Planning Session: Scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, 2020. Topics covered include: camp planning with the girls, Kaper charts, progressions, and basic skill instruction. You will form a “patrol” at the Planning Session to plan meals that will be prepared during the At Camp Session. Each member of your patrol will select items that they will bring to the At Camp Session.
  2. At Camp Session: Scheduled for Saturday, September 26th, 9:00 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Camp Honi Hanta. Participants will learn and demonstrate outdoor cooking techniques, fire building, and tying knots, how to execute camp safety, and hiking through camp, while having fun with new volunteer friends.

PLEASE NOTE: Registering for this course means you MUST attend both sessions, the Planning Session, part 1 on September 15, 2020 and the At Camp Session, part 2 on September 26, 2020 at Camp Honi Hanta. After you have attended the Planning Session (part 1), we will automatically place you in the At Camp Session (part 2).

Outdoor Skills, Archery, and Canoe Kayak Training for Adults are scheduled for the fall and are open for registration. These will also maintain safety requirements including masks, 6 feet social distancing, sanitizing and staying in groups of 10 or less. Outdoor Skills Training for the fall will follow the former one day curriculum for this cycle.

We will resume overnight programs and Outdoor skills training when we are able to. Low Ropes Challenge Course Training cannot be executed to meet safety standards at this time, but will be added as soon as it can be.”
