The GSUSA Gold Award Scholarship is earned by a Girl Scout who completed a Gold Award project that demonstrated extraordinary leadership, measurable and sustainable impact, and addressed an issue of national and/or global significance.

Additionally, all scholarship recipients will be added to a GSUSA database where they may be asked to serve as representatives for Girl Scouts through public relations, web/social, speaking engagements, or other related opportunities.
WHEN: The application period is March 13 – April 14, 2026.

Apply between March 13–April 14, 2026. All applicants will receive status updates in June 2026.
In addition to providing demographic information, a headshot with photo release, and confirmation of Gold Award status, each applicant will answer four essay questions in either a video (3 minutes or less each) or written (500 words or fewer each) format describing their Gold Award:

Since 1989, Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, Inc. Board of Directors has awarded college scholarships to graduating high school senior Girl Scouts! Girl Scouting offers opportunities for girls to excel in skills, leadership, and citizenship. The Board of Directors established the college scholarship fund to recognize young women for their achievements and academic successes, as well as to encourage them to continue their education.

Scholarship recipients will be honored at the Young Women of Distinction celebration on May 17, 2026.

This scholarship program is available to residents of Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte or DeSoto counties.
The online application opens Thursday, January 1, 2026, and closes Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 4:59 PM EST.
Applicants must be:
Graduating seniors from any high school in the above-mentioned 4
counties. Applicants must plan to attend an accredited college
and/or university full-time to complete a bachelor’s (4-year) degree.
Students planning to enroll in a state college are eligible to apply. Students planning to pursue a 2-year degree only, however, are not eligible. Non-high school students who are already enrolled in college are also not eligible. Listed below are additional criteria.

Students will be required to submit their FAFSA Submission Summary Document showing all pages and their Student Aid Index.
SAT or ACT test scores are not required this year.
Students who are unable to complete the FAFSA can still apply. Applicants unable to complete the FAFSA must contact Kiarra Womack at kwomack@selbyfdn.org directly, so that we can evaluate the financial component of eligibility on a confidential, case-by-case basis. There will also be a form on the application for these students.
