Horseback Riding & Communication
Girl Scouts will continue developing their riding skills while gaining confidence in the saddle. Through guided instruction, they will learn how horses respond to rider cues such as reins, posture, and leg signals. Emphasis will be placed on balance, coordination, and clear communication, helping Girl Scouts form a trusting partnership with their horse.
Horse Life Cycle & Care
Girl Scouts will explore the full life cycle of a horse-from foal to senior-while learning how a horse's needs change at each stage. Topics will include growth and development, common health considerations, grooming practices, and age appropriate care to ensure horses remain healthy and comfortable throughout their lives.
Horse Habitats & Mustangs
This session introduces Girl Scouts to the fascinating world of wild horses, including American Mustangs. Girls will learn about herd structure, natural behaviors, and how horses adapt to various environments around the world-from open plains to mountainous terrain. Discussions will highlight the importance of habitat conservation and herd dynamics.
Horse Diet & Daily Responsibilities
Understanding proper nutrition is essential to horse care! Girls will learn what horses eat, how feeding schedules are managed, and why hydration is critical. They will also participate in hands-on barn tasks such as feeding, watering, and basic stable maintenance; building responsibility and teamwork skills along the way.
Small Animal Interaction
Before and after rotation activities, Girl Scouts will have the opportunity to visit our Small Animal Pen for interactive time with Nigerian Dwarf goats and friendly chickens. This provides an additional fun and educational experience with smaller farm animals.
