Our Council
Who We Are:
As the leading authority on girls' healthy
development, Girl Scouts provides the premier leadership development
program for girls in grades K-12, inspiring them to achieve personal
and academic success now while preparing for the careers or life
journeys they choose in the future. Our mission is to build girls of
courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.
What We Do:
Through the Girl Scout Leadership
Experience, Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida provides the premier
leadership development program for girls in grades K-12, allowing
girls to discover themselves and their values, connect with others,
and take action to improve their communities.
The Girl Scout Leadership Experience is delivered through a national program portfolio consisting of “Journeys,” which are project-based, multidisciplinary learning adventures that help girls team up to identify and solve problems in their communities. Girls try new things and develop specific skills, from camping and first aid to financial literacy and STEM, while earning program awards and badges. Because the Girl Scout Leadership Experience curriculum is correlated to national and state learning standards, educators and parents can be confident that girls are having fun, active experiences that reinforce what they are learning during the school day.
Our Structure:
The council has a membership of nearly
6,000 girls in grades K-12, and more than 2,700 adult members. Girl

council’s jurisdiction.
Our Funding:

from local United Way organizations, annual product sales, gifts and
donations, grants, bequests, investment income, and fees for programs
and events.
