Media Marvels

Media Marvels is a program series offered to Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors who have an interest in broadcast, print, or digital media and want hands-on learning experiences. Girl Scouts participating in Media Marvels gain hands-on experience in media, journalism, public relations, and social media. They also gain exclusive access to external media opportunities, such as appearances on television and radio, magazine photoshoots, and interviews with newspaper journalists. Media Marvels also have access to specialized programming that focuses on career exploration and skills acquisition related to media.

Be a registered Girl Scout Cadette, Senior, or Ambassador in the Gulfcoast Council

Be a Girl Scout Brand Representative

Attend at least 2 Media Marvel programs of your choice per year

Attend at least 1 council event per year, such as Young Women of Distinction Ceremony, Denim and Pearls, Fun in the Wilderness, etc. in your capacity as a Media Marvel, representing the council as you:

Engage in public speaking to small and large audiences
Conduct interviews with fellow Girl Scouts and event attendees
Shoot photo and video footage
Write news briefs about special events for the Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida blog

Create content about your experience in Girl Scouts in collaboration with council

Attend quarterly virtual check-ins hosted by Marketing Department

We want to get to know you and your passion for media! Create a captivating video essay that tells your unique story. Share with us why you're interested in joining Media Marvels, what aspects of media and journalism excite you the most, and how you envision making a positive impact as a member.

Introduce yourself! Share your name, age, and what city or community you're from

Tell us about your experience in Girl Scouting. How long have you been a Girl Scout? What troop are you in, or are you a Juliette? What is your favorite part of being a Girl Scout?

Tell us what sparked your interest in media. Discuss your favorite form of media (e.g., journalism, photography, podcasting, social media). Explain why you are passionate about it and how it has influenced your life.

Share what specifically attracts you to Media Marvels. Express how you believe being a part of this program will help you grow and achieve your goals.

Finally, envision your future as a Media Marvel. How do you see yourself contributing to the program and making a difference in your community? What kind of media projects or initiatives would you like to spearhead?

Upload your video to a platform of your choice (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.). Share the link with the Media Marvels application.

We encourage you to be creative, authentic, and expressive in your video essays. This prompt allows you to showcase your personality, passion, and the potential contribution you will make to Media Marvels.
