In this program, girls will have a first-hand experience of what it means to work in a clinical laboratory. Using their state-of-the-art equipment, NeoGenomics scientists will teach how cancer is diagnosed and the steps to become a licensed clinical laboratory scientist. Girls will learn about of how doctors/oncologists use a clinical laboratory to better understand how to medically treat their patients with cancer for the best possible outcome. Girls will be introduced to the different tests they run—FISH, Cytogenetics, Flow Cytometry, Molecular Biology, Pathology, and Histology—and how they influence patient care.
This program includes a tour of the NeoGenomics facility, scavenger hunt, BINGO, and a departmental point person to answer questions. Program fee includes lunch and a program patch.
