This hands-on horseback experience is designed for older Girl Scouts and is offered through rotating activity stations. Girls will explore horsemanship in a safe, supportive environment while building confidence, leadership, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of horse care and riding skills.
Throughout the program, girls will learn about proper riding attire and safety equipment, gaining a stronger understanding of why each piece of gear is important. At the tack station, participants will explore saddles and riding equipment, learning how tack is used and how it supports both horse and rider.
Girls will take part in hands-on grooming activities, practicing proper brushing and care techniques while learning responsibility, respect, and communication with horses. Creative elements may be included to complement the experience and encourage self-expression alongside practical skills.
Arena time on horseback allows girls to apply what they've learned, with guided instruction and support from trained staff. Riding activities are designed to build confidence and skill while emphasizing safety, balance, and control. Photo opportunities will be available to capture this exciting experience.
This station-based program offers a well-rounded introduction to horsemanship, allowing girls to engage with horses from the ground up while strengthening confidence, leadership, and connection with others.
Juniors who participate will earn their Horseback Riding Badge as part of this program. All other levels will receive a fun patch.
