Dear GSGCF community,
Our thoughts go out to everyone in the communities impacted by Hurricanes Debby, Helene, and Milton. In challenging times like these, we are reminded of what truly matters – the well-being of community, family, and friends.
We are acutely aware that Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida families and staff members have suffered tremendous losses, and we also understand that those without damage suffered the trauma of uncertainty as these hurricanes approached our communities.
In an effort to support our members, Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida has established a Hurricane Relief Fund to aid members with current membership year dues; replace uniforms, credentials, and materials; and assist with future opportunities. It will help Girl Scouts with program scholarships for families that have suffered financial losses due to the storms and allow us to quickly repair and open our Girl Scout camps, which are currently closed due to safety concerns.
Our top priority is to support our girls, volunteers, staff, and their families in the weeks and months ahead and to help them to return to a state of normalcy. Please know, as families, neighbors, and communities begin the process of rebuilding, your Girl Scout council family is concerned about your health and well-being, both physical and mental. We encourage you to use resources available in your community, such as United Way 211, which is the expert in triaging and connecting you to organizations whose mission is to assist at times of crisis.
Thank you to all who have already reached out to offer your assistance. Your generosity makes a difference!
If you would like to help us further, please contribute here or double your impact by making a matching gift through our philanthropic partner, the Louis & Gloria Flanzer Philanthropic Trust. Please designate your gift as Hurricane Relief Fund.
